Performance «Wandering time»

Once Time was given to all living things as a punishment. But the only creature who has never reconciled themselves to the loss of Eternity was and still remains a human being…

The performance “WANDERING TIME” appeals to images inspired by the relationship between Time and a human being. These relationship are always ambivalent, painful, tragic and eternally conflicting. Actors of Laboratory have embodied in plastic compositions their experience and emotions of losing Eternity, physical perception of time flow, finiteness of life and people’s loneliness in the Universe. This performance resembles a dialogue between a human being and Time, which penetrates his whole existence, provokes fear and anxiety but after all gives a long hoped-for peace.

“Time appears in front of us in different images: it turns into a rough river, which is hard to ford, then it tickles your feet like a small rill, then it dashes downward into a waterfall. You turn around and see yourself as a child, splashing in a puddle. And now, Time is turning into a caring mother, who is leading you by the hand to a Cradle. Sometimes she turns away from the path, sometimes she takes a short cut. Now and then we rush her, willing to outran her, and with every step we are becoming one body… one light… one life with her… But her careful invisible breathing mostly scares us. And we believe this is only us alongside whom She could wander...”  Lidia Kopina, director
